New therapist at the centre

We are glad to announce that there is a new therapist practicing at the centre.
Matina Karastatira (pictured) is a qualified music therapist since 2008 and is able to offer low cost individual therapy sessions using the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (BMGIM) as an advanced trainee in that particular method. Matina has a Masters in Music Therapy from Anglia Ruskin university and a first degree in Music. During the therapy Matina creates a secure and confidential environment where difficult feelings or memories that may emerge are processed in a secure and safe way using a psychodynamic and creative approach. Matina is registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and she is a member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT), the European Association of Music and Imagery (EAMI), the Music and Imagery Association of UK and Ireland (MAIA), and the Association of Music and Imagery (AMI) and she abides by the Code of Ethical Practice of these organisations.

New counsellor joins the team at Newlands Park

Rebecca Wells has joined the team at Newlands Park health centre.  For the last 6 years Rebecca has been the Lead Counsellor at a secondary school in South East London, and also has a private practice here at Newlands Park. Rebecca completed her degree in counselling from Greenwich University in 2010, she provides one to one, short term or open ended counselling for young people from 11-25 years old.

Rebecca has trained to use Petruska Clarkson’s 5 stage model which combines Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The integration of different approaches means that therapy can be tailored to each individual client, and to meet a variety of needs and concerns.

Noel Bell interviews Robin Shohet

In this interview Robin Shohet discusses psychotherapy, how he understands appreciative enquiry and the nature of personal therapy and clinical supervision.
Robin Shohet co-authored the hugely influential book Supervision in the Helping Professions, with Professor Peter Hawkins, first published in 1989. Robin edited Passionate Supervision, in 2007, and Supervision as Transformation in 2011. More recently he co-edited Clinical Supervision in the Medical Profession with Dr David Owen, and contributed a chapter on resistance.

New psychotherapist at the Centre

kirsty-rankineKirsty Rankine is a new addition to the psychotherapy team operating out of Newlands Park Health Centre. Kirsty works with people suffering from a range of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, eating disorders and experiences of trauma or abuse.

She trained in Core ProcessPsychotherapy at the Karuna Institute and received her Master’s qualification from Middlesex University.

Welcome to Newlands Park Natural Health Centre

Everyone associated with the Newlands Park Natural Health Centre is very excited about launching this new website to showcase the vast range of services which we provide to the whole community in South East London.
